Tea Smoothies + Recovery Nutrition Workshop

Lets start with the workshop... I will be holding a sport nutrition talk in Victoria, BC on Monday, April 22nd, 7:30-8:30pm. The topic is recovery nutrition. Every athlete knows how important recovery is. But there is so much information out there, which can be confusing, not to mention inaccurate. This talk will cover basic recovery nutrition strategies as well as more complex strategies based on recent studies to promote recovery while creating the appropriate stimulus to help with training adaptation and performance.

The interactive format will allow each participant to gain knowledge and tools to design their own personal recovery nutrition strategy based on their goals and needs, using the latest science and practice. The cost is $11 +GST. To sign up, email or call 250-686-8827.

Now, onwards to 2 smoothie recipes using brewed tea. As with these raspberry pancakes, I used David's Tea again - this time cocomint herbal and chocolate rocket mate. All you need to do is brew the tea in advance and store in the fridge. You could also brew the tea, let it cool a bit and then freeze it in an ice cube tray!

Apple & Greens Cocomint Smoothie

  • 1 cup brewed & chilled cocomint David's Tea (or Mint tea)
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup packed, sliced chard, without the stems (or spinach)
  • 1/2 avocado
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened apple sauce
  • 1 scoop protein powder

  1. Blend everything in a blender until smooth. Add more tea if needed to achieve the desired texture

Banana Almond Chocolate Rocket Smoothie

  • 1 cup brewed and chilled chocolate rocket mate tea
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 tbsp almond butter
  • 1 scoop protein powder

  1. Blend until smooth. Add a bit more tea if needed to achieve the desired consistency

9 more days until I move to Vancouver... If you are in Victoria, sign up for the recovery nutrition workshop... and if want a bike fit or a face to face nutrition consult with me, now is the time to book one... Just send me an email!
